Parts of southern Ontario could see up to 40 cm of snow Wednesday and Thursday, with freezing rain possible for the GTA and Hamilton, the agency said.
Snowfall, freezing rain and icy road conditions have led to some school bus cancellations in the the GTHA.
Snow and freezing rain is expected in the Greater Toronto Area on Thursday, arriving just in time to snarl the morning commute.
Environment Canada is warning of significant amounts of rain in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond that will make roads wet and slippery on Sunday. The department forecasts 20 to 44 millimetres of rain in Toronto, Guelph, Oakville, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Vaughan, Oshawa, Markham, Richmond Hill and other areas.
